Terms of Service

Before The Cut is a preview and visualisation tool. The images it produces are AI-generated approximations of how a hairstyle might look on you. They are not a guarantee, prediction, or promise of the result of an actual haircut.

Real results depend on your barber or stylist, your hair type and condition, and many other factors outside our control. We are not responsible for any outcome at an actual barbershop or salon — the final decision and result always sit with you and your barber.

All purchases are one-time purchases processed securely by Stripe — credit packs and the 30-day Unlimited Pass. There are no recurring subscriptions and your card is never charged automatically again.

All purchases are final and non-refundable once made. Credits and passes are non-refundable once purchased — please use them before they expire. Credits don't currently expire; an Unlimited Pass expires 30 days after purchase.

If you believe a payment was made in error or without your authorisation, contact us first at hey@beforethecut.app and we'll work with you. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 that cannot lawfully be excluded.

You retain all rights to photos you upload. We don't claim ownership of your photos. You give us a limited licence to process them only as needed to generate your previews and operate the service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

You agree that you will only upload:

• Photos of yourself, or photos of another person with their clear consent.
• Content that is lawful and not harmful, offensive, or infringing.

You must not upload photos of anyone else without their consent, attempt to abuse or circumvent the credit or payment systems, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or use the app for any illegal purpose.

The service is intended for users aged 16 and over. By creating an account you confirm you are at least 16 years old.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties not expressly stated in these terms and are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss — including lost profits, lost data, or dissatisfaction with an actual haircut — arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, abuse the service, or are used fraudulently. You can delete your own account at any time from your account page; doing so deletes your account data and photos as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may update these terms from time to time; the current version and its date are on this page. These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
